our history
COMPANY HISTORY
Wildstone Construction & Engineering Ltd. was formed in 1995, in Penticton, BC, with its roots as a Resources and Engineering business, providing services throughout British Columbia. James Morrison, P.Eng (founder) was a practicing civil engineer and the business provided geotechnical, environmental and civil engineering, as well as RP Bio services in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The company began its journey into construction projects in the early 2000’s, primarily building bridges and infrastructure projects. In the mid 2000’s, Mike and Mark Melissen joined the business, eventually working through nearly every role. By 2010, Wildstone had acquired Foxie Construction in Medicine Hat and Currie’s Excavating in Penticton, BC and significantly diversified in it’s capabilities and geographic reach. From 2010-2020, Wildstone built projects from Manitoba to BC and in all three northern territories. Wildstone Construction Ltd, as it’s known today has offices in Penticton, Kelowna and Whitehorse and remains a family owned and operated business.
Some highlights along our journey include:
- Constructing over 100 water and waste-water projects throughout western and northern Canada.
- Delivering power infrastructure for two Gold Mines built in the Golden Triangle mining district in North East BC, via an EPC model.
- Acting as Prime Contractor and delivering the mechanical and millwrighting services for Yukon Energy’s Whitehorse LNG Facility.
- Building BC’s largest Battery Energy Storage project (as of 2023), and the interior’s largest grid tied Solar Farm, delivered via an EPC model.
- Building great partnerships with Indigenous Development Corporations in BC and the Yukon.
- Continuing to provide diverse construction services to the industrial, commercial, institutional, energy and multi-family residential sectors.
We’d like to recognize Gordon Mackinnon, Ray Heywood, and Chris Harp, who were some of the earliest Wildstone team members and were invaluable to the company along the way.
