Sachs Harbour Diesel Power Plant
The northernmost community in the NWT gets a new power plant, prefabricated in Edmonton and barged to the Arctic.

Sachs Harbour Diesel Power Plant
Sachs Harbour is the northernmost community in the Northwest Territories, with no road access, a once-annual barge, and a 1975 power plant that had long since run its course. Wildstone was selected to design and build the replacement. The modular three-engine facility was prefabricated in Edmonton, barged to the Arctic site, and installed on a new substructure frame system engineered to handle permafrost movement. The scope included full demolition of the existing plant, concrete foundations, tank farm upgrades, a structural firewall, and complete mechanical and electrical integration. COVID-19 restrictions pushed the project back by two years, but the outcome is exactly what the community needed: a reliable, efficient, emissions-improved power plant built to last.
