Jëje Zho Men's House
The Jëje Zho is more than a building. It's a place that provides transitional housing and emergency shelter for members of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in community in Dawson City, and it was designed to feel like home. Drawing inspiration from traditional fish drying racks, canoe designs, and local salmon and ochre rocks, the cultural elements of the building were integrated into every design decision. Wildstone worked directly with Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in representatives and Chief Isaac Group throughout, sourced materials from First Nation-owned suppliers, and hosted a community job fair that led to the hiring of a local carpenter. Eight residential units, up to 11 beds, and a building that honours the community it serves.
